Creative workshop at CAJO Keramik
Try creating with clay
A creative experience for hen parties, groups of friends, families, stag parties, company activities or as a thoughtful gift.
Example setup
- Duration: approximately 2 hours
- Group size: 4 people per session
- Price: 1190 SEK/person
- Included: material, firings and working time
How does it work?
We begin by showing the basic steps of wheel throwing. After that, you get to try it yourselves. There are two pottery wheels, and each round takes approximately 20–30 minutes.
While some participants are throwing, the rest can try rolling slabs to make plates, trays or similar pieces. If you want to make serving platters, there are moulds available to use.
The clay then needs to dry slowly under plastic. It shrinks by approximately 10%, and the larger the object, the greater the risk of cracks during drying or firing. For a first session, we recommend making something around the size of a larger plate.
Children and age recommendation
Children can try wheel throwing as long as they can reach the pedal. Parents need to assist and take responsibility for making sure the child listens to and follows the instructions.
The wheel spins quickly and accidents can easily happen. Our recommendation is that children are not younger than 8 years old, but parents decide what works for their child.
Food and drinks
If you would like to make the experience extra cosy with food and drinks, we are happy to discuss what would suit your group. You are also welcome to bring your own food and drinks if you would like to take a break during the workshop. Just let us know beforehand.
Glazing and collection
After approximately 4 weeks, depending on how thick your pieces are, the ceramics have dried and been bisque fired. They are then hard enough to be handled without breaking.
We glaze your pieces in white glossy glaze and fire them once more. If you would like to paint your own pieces and have access to more colours, we can book a separate session. An additional cost of 180 SEK/person applies.
When the ceramics are finished, they can be collected from the studio or shipped for an additional shipping fee.
